From buying a house to renting an apartment, your credit score can make a big difference. Here are a few ways to boost your score.

3 TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT

Tip 1: Check your credit report

The first step to fixing your credit is to know where you stand. Your credit score is a number between 300 and 850. The lower the number, the poorer the credit. Every American is entitled to a free copy of their credit report from all three major credit bureaus. Ask one of our representatives how you can request your free report.

Tip 2: Automate bill payments

The single best thing you can do for your credit is to pay bills on time, consistently, and in full. But no matter how much money you have, anybody can forget to make a payment. Remove that possibility with recurring payments. You can do this yourself with online banking. Or one of our representatives can help you get started.

Tip 3: Become an authorized user

Your score can benefit by becoming an authorized user on an account of someone who already has great credit— like your spouse or one of your parents. You don’t need to get a physical card or use this line of credit for purchases. Just put your name on the account, so you can benefit from their good behavior.
